ABOUT Steve

Steve Gross started as a Physicist and later switched into Biology. He is currently a Professor of Developmental and Cell Biology at the University of California, Irvine, with a joint appointment in Physics. His research website is https://sgross.bio.uci.edu/index.html. He’s often used academic trips as photography opportunities; hence the photographs from around the world.

He’s been taking photographs since he was 11 or 12, and spent a lot of his high school days in a darkroom. About 20 years ago he switched from Analog to Digital, and until very recently, hadn’t made any enlargements. Having now started making prints, he’s remembering how much he likes them, and decided that maybe someone else would like his pictures too. This website is created to test that idea.

The site is called CattleDog Photography because he lives with 2 of them, and they are frequently featured in his photographs.

There are a number of galleries, representing different themes and/or locations. Prints of all images are for sale. Some older images are only available as moderate-size englargements (8X12 inches) though modern ones are available both in that size and also larger (13X19 inches). Cost per enlargement is $50 for 8X12, and $75 for 13X19, plus shipping.

Steve is based in Southern California. For business inquiries, feel free to contact him at grosslab@gmail.com.
